C-Murder, real named Corey Miller, was recently convicted of shooting a teenager in 2002. The teenager died in the shooting and he was sentenced to life in jail. However, a Louisiana appeals court has upheld the murder conviction and life sentence for him. The three-judge panel from the state’s 5th Circuit Court of Appeal rejected the argument from the rapper saying that he didn’t get a fair trail. The rapper was convicted of second-degree murder by a jury in 2009. The murder took place at a nightclub and the victim was 16-year-old named Steve Thomas. Miller in his appeal claimed that the prosecutor systematically eliminated black people from the jury. However, the 5th Circuit board rejected all these arguments upholding the murder conviction and the life sentence

No matter your stature in rap, working with Dr. Dre is a pretty big deal. Newcomers like Kendrick Lamar and Slim the Mobster have seen their careers grow considerably after working with the good doctor, while veterans like Busta Rhymes and 50 Cent have marveled at Dre's in-studio work ethic. For T.I., however, simply working with the West Coast production king isn't enough. He wants to develop a tighter musical bond. On Tuesday (December 28), Tip leaked a trailer for the mixtape F--- da City Up that showed him and Dre working together in the studio. "Dre was here. He sent for me over to the spot. We really just turned up more than anything else. It was about creating chemistry," T.I. told MTV News while he was in Atlanta preparing for the New Year's Day release of the mixtape. This isn't the first time that the King of the South has collaborated with the California legend. A few years ago, "Topless," a song that was said to be recorded for Dre's oft-delayed Detox, leaked onto the Internet. According to T.I., their most recent session was a fruitful one. "Of course we can get together, he got hot beats and I got dope rhymes, so we can always get together and make music," Tip said. "But for people to feel what we're sayin' and for it to sound like a party comin' through your speakers, you gonna have to create some chemistry. So that's what we spent more time doin' than anything else; developing that chemistry."

Duane “Hump” Hobbs, the CEO of Sucka Free Records, is accused of being a member of a drug distribution network, that allegedly sold hundreds of kilos of cocaine on a regular basis.

Hobbs ran the Sucka Free imprint, which was home to rapper Lil Flip, from 1998 until 2004, when the two parted ways amidst a contract dispute.
Sucka Free was incorporated in 1998 and by 2002, the label had a deal with Columbia Records to release Lil Flip’s major label debut, Undaground Legend.

According to The Houston Chronicle, prosecutors maintain that Hobbs, 52, quietly was a part of the drug distribution network during that time as well.

The African-American drug distribution network Hobbs was allegedly associated with had ties to top Mexican drug cartels.

According to prosecutors, the organization reached Mexico, Houston, Chicago, Mississippi and other states.

While investigators continue to determine the scope of his involvement, one informant claims that he delivered hundreds of kilos of cocaine to Hobbs, on multiple occasions.

The organization’s drug conspiracy allegedly operated from 1995 until as recently as 2010.

In addition to a number of cooperating witnesses, prosecutors claim they have Hobbs on tape talking a man named Abraham Woods, who was allegedly the drug network’s main link to the Mexican cartels.

In 2009, Abraham Woods arrested in a drug sting and was murdered in a Houston Apartment, shortly after his release.

Duane Hobbs, had never been charged with a crime in his life.

He was well known for his activism in the Houston community, as well as his passion for gospel music and singers.

He even helped mediate a violent dispute between Lil Flip and T.I., which eventually escalated to gunplay between their camps in Houston, in 2005.

Now, Hobbs is now facing conspiring to distribute cocaine and money laundering charges.

If convicted, Hobbs could be sentenced to 10 years to life in federal prison without parole.

His next court date is in January.

The man who allegedly killed Atlanta rapper Slim Dunkin during a shootout in the recording studio has turned himself to police today. According to sources, the shooter is identified as being Vinson Hardimon, 28-year-old who is also known as Young Vito. He is being held at the Fulton County jail in charges of murder and gun possession. We previously reported that Slim Dunkin was killed over a shot in his chest on December 16 after a fight that started over a piece of candy, according to police reports. Investigators now believe that Hardimon was the man who started the fight with late Dunkin and eventually pulled out the gun and shot him to death. Atlanta police homicide Detective David Quinn told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Monday that he got a call from his (shooter’s) attorney. He wished to turn himself over to police. Hardimon’s attorney brought him to Atlanta Police headquarters from where he was taken to the Fulton jail.

Heavy D's Cause Of Death Announced

Tuesday, 27 December 2011 Written by OnThaReal Magazine

Though he was only 44 years old, a medical examiner has concluded that Heavy D's death last month was a result of natural causes. TMZ reported that Heavy, born Dwight Myers, died from a pulmonary embolism caused by deep vein thrombosis.

Pulmonary embolism is usually caused by a blood clot formed in the leg that eventually travels up to the lung, stopping blood flow. In most cases, the clots formed aren't deadly, but officials from L.A. County Coroner's Office also told TMZ that the rapper suffered from heart disease and that may have been a contributing factor to his death as well.

According to WebMD, common symptoms associated with pulmonary embolism are sudden shortness of breath, sharp chest pains, lightheadedness and fainting. Police reported that on November 8 they arrived at Heavy D's Beverly Hills home after a call was made to report an unconscious man. When the cops arrived, they found the rapper conscious, though he had difficulty breathing. The self-proclaimed Overweight Lover was then transported to Cedars Sinai Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. TMZ also reported that a flight that Heavy took back from Europe after performing at a Michael Jackson tribute concert in Wales may have been a factor in his death as well. It is believed that the blood clots formed in Heavy's legs due to his prolonged immobility on the long flight.

Heavy was laid to rest on November 18. The night before his funeral, his brother Floyd Myers spoke with MTV News about his brother's health from his family's home, apparently unaware of Heavy's heart disease. "Heavy was in great shape," Myers said. "You guys seen him at the BET Awards, and he just did the tribute to Michael Jackson; they flew him out to London to do that. Heav was in good shape, healthy, no heart problems. He constantly made sure that his health was in check."

At the time, the initial autopsy report had come back inconclusive and Heavy's family, friends and fans were still searching for answers. Still, rather than speculate, Heav's brother remembered the positivity that the rapper exhibited in his life. "He loved family, and that's who he was, but it wasn't too much different from how he treated his friends and his fans," he said. "He showed everybody love and affection, and we're gonna miss that."
