Moment Of Clarity
It appears that the quiet hamlet of Savannah, GA is undergoing a hip hop rebirth. A lot of you may recall that Savannah was the home of the homie Camouflage (R.I.P.), and that earlier this month I review Sir Chamberlain (also from Savannah). Well I checked my links on Twitter and I see yet another artist from the Georgia coast. He goes by the name of J.O.E., and the name of his mixtape is “Moment Of Clarity”.
Much like the homie Sir Chamberlain, J.O.E can seriously spit fire. I'm sooooo glad to see these up-and-coming MCs not forgetting that lyrical ability doesn't have to be compromised in this era of hip hop. His mixtape follows the original formula of original songs and freestyles, and he definitely let his light shine on both.
He especially shows that he's that dude on the track “It's Just Sex”. It should be renamed “The Side Piece Anthem”, because it pretty much details the thought process of those that indulge in such things (not me of course...I'm talking about YAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLL!!!!). The verbal gymnastics displayed on that song were definitely gold medal worthy.
This mixtape is solid from stem to stern (from front to back for you land lovers). This will definitely get folks attention; the only unknown is how will be improve on this. He has the skills; let's see if he has the desire and courage to match it.
